The Ancient Crisis Fragment is a pivotal item in Path of Exile 2, functioning as one of three unique Pinnacle Keys needed to unlock the game's most challenging endgame encounter—the Arbiter of Ash fight within the Burning Monolith. This fragment acts as a gatekeeper, allowing access to pinnacle content that offers top-tier rewards and tests players' mastery of the game.
To unlock this pinnacle boss encounter, players must collect all three Crisis Fragments: Ancient, Faded, and Weathered. The Ancient Crisis Fragment specifically drops from Count Geonor, the boss of the Iron Citadel found in high-tier Forest and Grass biome maps (Tier 15+). Securing this fragment is a significant milestone, as it signifies a player's progression into the deepest layers of PoE 2's endgame.
Once all three fragments are acquired, they can be placed into the corresponding sockets within the Burning Monolith's entrance, activating the elevator that takes players to the Arbiter of Ash. While it is possible to enter the Burning Monolith without the fragments, doing so does not grant the ability to challenge the Arbiter or obtain his unique loot.
